Gaspard Meric
Founder / Carpenter
My journey with timber began back in 2007 in the Southwest of France, where I completed a post-and-beam apprenticeship alongside a two-year degree in timber engineering. We moved to the Scottish Highlands in 2014. After three years working with MAKAR and six years self-employed, I founded Eco Frame in 2023 in Inverness.
Eco Frame is deeply personal to me. I built it on a simple belief: that work should be built on high quality, mutual respect, and genuine care for people and the planet. My mission is to construct strong, sustainable buildings for our community, mentor the next generation of builders, and ensure our team and clients genuinely enjoy working together.
“We are lucky to live in the north of Scotland, where we have such incredible natural resources and the opportunity to promote a healthy relationship between ourselves, the places we live and work, and the world around us.
My aim is to bring together locally sourced materials and skilled craftspeople with healthier, more sustainable methods of construction. Strong communication, clear management, affordability and trust are all key to this philosophy.
I really believe in passing on traditional skills to the next generation. Many skilled carpenters and business owners took time and money to train me – and that’s why I decided my first employee would be an apprentice. I am fully willing to commit to paying a living wage to allow people in their late 20s and beyond to be able to afford to go back to college and learn new skills.”
Finlay Sutherland
Director / Carpenter
My background is in carpentry and joinery; I started as a labourer, completed an apprenticeship, and eventually moved into project management.
Gaspard and I have always worked well together since he moved to Scotland Having both worked for MAKAR - another sustainable construction company—I worked there for 15 years, and it was time to create our own vision. I was drawn to Eco Frame due to its core values, particularly its creativity, passion for training and the chance to lead a company at the forefront of positive change in the construction industry.
Eaden Sutherland

I wanted to join Eco Frame to work with a team and a company that values the use of sustainable building materials and practices, exceptional craftsmanship and a work environment that you look forward to being a part of everyday.
I am a huge music fan of many types mainly electronic, and I have played guitar for most of my life, I also love rock climbing and being in the outdoors.
Fun fact: I prefer my left-handed hammer to my right-handed one.
Jamie Sykes
Apprentice Carpenter
I want to build high-quality homes using natural materials that are healthier for everyone now and in the future. To work on exciting and innovative projects that we can be proud of, that are built to last as long as possible.
I enjoy spending time outdoors exploring the Highlands and Islands. I enjoy growing and cooking food at my allotment.
Lewis MacDonald
Apprentice Carpenter
I chose to work for Eco Frame because I care strongly about sustainability and wanted to contribute to something meaningful through my work. The opportunity to work alongside highly skilled, passionate tradesmen was also a big draw for me.
Outside of work, I spend as much time outdoors as I can. I enjoy mountain biking and cycle touring during the summer, and ski touring in the winter. I particularly enjoy combining these activities with camping and friends.
Dorian Hardie
Apprentice Carpenter
I chose to work with Eco Frame because I wanted to go through an apprenticeship abundant in sustainability and producing high-quality joinery to learn the skills it takes to do it properly.
After work I often work with my dad or look after my younger sisters at home. During the weekends I often do the same.
